To create a payment voucher, open Payment Vouchers, create a new batch, complete the required voucher information, save the voucher, and post the batch when it is ready.
Use payment vouchers to enter A/P or trust voucher transactions in Juris.
Create a payment voucher
-
Select Transactions > Payment Vouchers.
- Create a new batch using any of the following options:
- Click the New icon on the toolbar.
- Select Form > New > Payment Voucher.
- Press Ctrl+N.
-
Enter the required information in the payment voucher form.
The available options differ depending on the payment voucher type. A/P vouchers and trust vouchers have different requirements.
Tip: Press F9 in any field to duplicate the value from the previous payment voucher entry. Fields can also be set to duplicate automatically in Payment Vouchers Preferences, which can be accessed by selecting Tools > Preferences from the Payment Voucher window.
A/P vouchers
For A/P vouchers, G/L distributions are required. Depending on the selected vendor, Juris may automatically populate these distributions.
If the distributions are not automatically populated, the full amount of the A/P voucher must be distributed to the appropriate G/L accounts.
Expense distributions are optional. All or part of the charges on the voucher may be distributed to clients and matters as billable expenses.
Trust vouchers
Trust vouchers are used to enter items to be paid from the client trust account.
Important: Proper handling of client trust funds is critical. Review Basics of Trust Account Management before entering trust vouchers.
Save the payment voucher
Save the payment voucher using any of the following options:
- Click the Save icon on the toolbar.
- Select Form > Save.
- Press Ctrl+S.
- Click the Back one level icon. Juris prompts you to save before exiting the screen.
Batches must be posted before they are complete. For more information, see Payment Vouchers Advanced Topics.
