To create or update a check design, open Check Design, create a new layout or modify an existing one, set the check location and MICR options as needed, add layout elements, and save the format.
Use Check Design to create or modify check layouts so printed checks match the firm’s check form. Check designs are assigned to bank accounts, and checks generated from that account use the check design selected for that account.
MICR information should only be printed on checks if the appropriate equipment, font, and magnetic ink are available.
Create or modify a check design

Double-click Setup and Manage.

Double-click Check Design.

Create a new check layout:
- To create a new check layout, click the New icon.
- To modify an existing format, double-click the format name.
The Check Properties screen opens.

Review the check layout canvas.
The canvas has three sections. The bottom area of the middle section is reserved for MICR information.
- To change the check location, right-click anywhere in the gray area of the check and select Properties.

Move the Check Location to Top, Middle, or Bottom.
This changes the location of the MICR information. This location is also where perforation settings, MICR information, and other options may be supplied.

Add data fields:
- Click Insert Data Field.
- Draw the field on the canvas.
- Right-click the field and go to Properties.
- On the Data tab, select the data to display from the Control Source drop-down menu.

Add label fields:
- Click Insert Text Field.
- Draw the field on the canvas.
- Double-click the field.
- Enter the text for the label.

Add shapes:
- Click Insert Shape.
- Draw the shape on the canvas.
- On the Format tab, select the shape to display from the Shape drop-down menu.
- Add lines by clicking Insert Line.

Arrange fields, lines, and shapes as needed.
Fields, lines, and shapes can be rearranged by clicking and dragging. Use the available property values to adjust orientation, appearance, dimensions, and related layout settings.
- Save the format using any of the following options:
- Click the Save icon.
- Select Form > Save from the toolbar.
- Press Ctrl + S.
