To design a custom bill, open Bill Designer, create or open a bill layout, save the format, add the needed design elements, format the layout and field properties, and preview the bill as you work.
Use Bill Designer to create or modify a custom bill format in Juris.
The components below can be used when designing a bill format, but not every component is required for every design. If you are new to Bill Designer, open an existing bill format first and review the field properties to see how the format was built.

Open Bill Designer

Select Billing > Bill Designer.

Do one of the following:
- Double-click an existing format to open it for editing.
- Click the New icon on the toolbar to start a new format.

Select Form > New > Bill Designer.
The Bill Layouts window opens.

Select New > Blank Bill Layout to begin designing a format from scratch, or select another format from the list to begin designing a new format based on an existing format.
A new bill layout opens.

Name and save the format before continuing.
Save often while working in Bill Designer. Review and save the design periodically as objects are added.
Add a data field
- Add a data field using either of the following methods:
- Click and drag the item into the design from the field explorer.
- Click the Data Field button, then draw an unbound data object by clicking and dragging a square in the format designer.
- Right-click the data object, then select Properties > Select Field.
- Select the appropriate data field.
To remove a data field, select the field and press Delete.
Add a label field
- Click the Label Field button.
- Click and drag a square in the format designer to draw the label.
- Double-click the label field.

Enter the label text in Caption.
To remove a label field, select the field and press Delete.
Add an image field

Click the Image Field button.
- Click and drag a square in the format designer.
- Right-click the image field, then select Properties.
- In the Picture property, click Lookup.
- Browse to the appropriate graphic.
To remove an image field, select the field and press Delete.
Add a page break
- Click the Page Break button.
- Click the location in the format designer where you want the page break.
The page break appears as a square object in the left margin.
To remove a page break, select the page break object and press Delete.
Add a shape
- Click the Shape button.
- Click and drag a square in the format designer.
- Right-click the shape field, then select Properties.

Select the appropriate shape and other shape properties.
Shape options include square, rectangle, and ellipse. Other properties may include color and orientation.
To remove a shape, select the field and press Delete.
Add an attachment layout
- Right-click the Bill Format tab.
- Select the attachment type to add, such as a cover page, banner page, or envelope.
- Design the attachment using the same general guidelines used to design a bill format.
To remove the attachment, right-click anywhere within the attachment, then select Layout > Delete.
Add a subsection
- Right-click the area in the design where the subsection should be inserted.
- Select Insert Section.
- Select the appropriate subsection.
To remove the subsection, go to As Fields view, select the field that represents the subsection, and press Delete.
Format properties
Format layout properties
Use either of the following methods to format layout properties:
- Select File > Properties.
- Right-click a blank area of the format, then select Layout > Properties.
Format section or subsection properties
Use either of the following methods to format section or subsection properties:
- Right-click a blank area of the section or subsection, then select Properties.
- Right-click the section delimiter bar for the section, then select Properties.
Format field properties
To format field properties, right-click the field, then select Properties.
Use the available property features to customize the bill format.
Preview the bill format
Use the Preview button frequently to review the bill format as you create it.
