This article outlines how to reverse a Manual Bill in Juris, including bills that have had cash, credit memos, or trust adjustments applied. The process requires creating a negative manual bill to offset the original and then entering a zero-dollar cash receipt to clear both bills from A/R reporting. Following this procedure ensures accurate financial reporting and proper account reconciliation.
You cannot unpost a manual bill in Juris. Instead, you must reverse it.
This procedure applies whether or not cash, a credit memo, or a trust adjustment has been applied to the original bill. Because manual bills post automatically and cannot be undone through a standard unpost function, a specific two-step reversal process must be followed. This guidance ensures that billing records, accounts receivable balances, and general ledger accounts remain accurate and in balance.
To determine what has been applied to a bill, go to Client/Matter Inquiry and review the Ledger History or Bill.
