Setting the current period affects transaction entry, transaction folders, and default prebill date ranges. Before changing the current period, all users should exit Juris, and Juris should be placed in Maintenance Mode.
Use Set Current Period when users need to begin entering transactions in a different accounting period. The current period controls default date ranges throughout Juris and affects where users can enter transactions.
How the current period is used
The current period affects the following areas:
- Users cannot enter transactions in prior or future accounting periods unless they have rights to work outside the current period, as assigned in User ID's > Menu Rights.
- If the firm creates transaction folders in Firm Options > Misc., the transaction folders are based on the current period.
- In Select Prebills, the bill-through date defaults to the end date of the current period.
Before you begin
Before changing the current period:
- Have all users exit Juris.
- Place Juris in Maintenance Mode to prevent users from logging in while the accounting period is being changed.
